Snowmobile Safety (part 2) on the trails

Some Simple Snowmobile Safety Tips

Laws and Regulations
Respect the laws and regulations in force.

Signals
There is a simple signal code that exists and should be used by all snowmobilers on trails. It allows you to signal your intentions to other users following you and those who are coming in contact with you as well. You may find the code on the Canadian Council for Snowmobile Organizations site by clicking the following link:

Circulation
Stay on the right side of the trail. Reduce your speed when in unknown territory. Be careful when you are crossing roads and railway tracks (it is your responsibility to decide when to cross, do not depend on others). At night, reduce your speed as your field of vision decreases. Stay on marked trails and respect all private properties.

On Waterways
It is not recommended to venture off on waterways. If you must do so, be sure the ice is suitable and stay on marked trails. To check if ice thickness is suitable, refer to the Canada Safety Council site by clicking on  the following link:
