Snowmobile Safety (part 1) before leaving

The snowmobiling season has arrived! Here are a few snowmobile safety tips to make your rides pleasant and safe.

Itinerary
It is always wise to plan your itinerary in advance and go over it with people who are not with you.

Insurance
You must have valid civil liability insurance. The minimum amount suggested is $500,000.

Vehicle
Before leaving, it is important to verify the mechanical condition of your vehicle to be sure everything is working well. Make sure your vehicle is equipped with mandatory safety equipment (if in doubt, check with the local authorities).

Equipment
Always have a first aid kit and survival kit with you. Keep ice picks close at hand.

Clothing
Several layers of clothing are necessary when practicing winter sports. The layer system has several advantages. It allows you to manage humidity, conserve heat and protects you from the snow, rain and wind. It keeps you warm and dry, therefore comfortable, and is necessary for long outings in the cold.Wearing a helmet will protect you in the event of an accident, but also protects you from the cold.
