When you want protection for your head on a motorcycle, ideally you opt for a full face helmet. While this type of helmet is the most secure, it can be unpleasant to wear in warm weather or uncomfortable since it can be heavy during a long trip. You should then find a well-ventilated and lightweight helmet.

The RR710 CKX helmet is a full face helmet that meets these criteria. With its aggressive style, the  RR710 model is equipped with:

  • an anti-scratch visor

  • a detachable tinted visor (RR710 RSV only)
  • a detachable Proclip mechanism for quick opening/closing of the tether strap

  • antibacterial, detachable and washable inside linings

  • a chin curtain and a breath deflector

To offer adequate security, the RR710 helmet is made of an improved and shock-resistant injection molded plastic shell. This construction allows the helmet to meet or surpass the DOT FMVSS218 standard.

Good ventilation coming from the top openings and at the front of the helmet will ensure good aeration within. When it’s cooler, sliding and efficient valves block air entry.

My view

During 4 months of the motorcycle season when I covered over 800 km with the RR710 full face helmet, the adjective that best describes my impression is: SURPRISE! Let me explain:

  • I tested it in warm or cold weather, dry or in the rain, with the sun or under the stars. Despite all types of meteorological conditions, I was always comfortable inside the helmet with good ventilation and adequate support.

  • With a full face helmet, you look for one that is discreet and not too inclusive for our motorcycle ride. The RR710 is light weighing in at only 1500 gm and its aerodynamic tunnel allows the helmet to stay well in place without turbulence during higher speeds.

  • The Proclip system for the tether strap has only good points as far as I’m concerned with quicker opening/closing and no need to show the uninitiated how to attach a chinstrap.

  • Having chosen to test the RR710 RSV model, this one is equipped with a very pleasant tinted detachable visor, since I was used to wearing sunglasses or even worse, dragging around two visors (clear and tinted) in a backpack. With the detachable tinted visor integrated in the shell and a simple sliding of the finger, the tinted visor appears to protect us from the sun while driving our vehicle. At first, I wasn’t totally convinced but now I have totally adopted this mechanism and I couldn’t be without it.

  • Finally, what surprised me the most was the sales price, starting at only $109.99 for everything this helmet has to offer, and it comes in several colour options.

Conclusion of the test

There was some hesitation when I obtained the helmet since I was used to well-known and high-end brand helmets (without naming them, you know which ones), but I can now confirm that the CKX RR710 RSV is without a doubt one of the best full face helmets I have worn over my 15 years riding a motorcycle, snowmobile or ATV.

In concluding this article, I would ask you a question dear readers: Why pay more when the CKX RR710 has all the qualities of a high-end helmet?
