Everyone has certainly experienced the unpleasant problem of goggle fog up in wintertime. “Enduring” goggles in wintertime most likely results from the fact that you like the look of your motocross helmet – coupled with the advantage of breathing more freely – as opposed to a full-face/modular helmet. One must then resign oneself to carry two pairs of goggles that often fog up, alternating them on several occasions, with a rather unimpressive result.
CKX has developed the perfect solution for you: the CKX Falcon electric goggles. No more fog and/or frost when you wear your motocross helmet in the wintertime.
When I heard about the CKX Falcon goggles with heated lenses, and learned that they allow the use of a motocross helmet in the winter without the annoyance of the goggles fogging-up, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to test them. The result is simply amazing! Not only are they very comfortable but can also be perfectly fitted on my helmet (CKX TX696 model).
With my snowmobile, I never had to worry about my goggles fogging-up as is often the case with a standard model. I can finally appreciate the comfort of an open-face helmet, and still have good and safe vision throughout the day.
With regard to the ATV, the result is similar to that of the snowmobile despite a more predominant wind with this type of vehicle. My vision never suffered from fog build-up or from partial frost on the goggles.
I wanted to perform the last goggle test using a snowboard. Being an off-trail and backcountry enthusiast, I am often exasperated by fog build-up when my body temperature rises during such physical efforts. After a while, I am so fed-up by my vision being obstructed that I simply remove the goggles.
This is where I resorted to the convenient “Battery pack”: it allows the heating function without the need of a mechanical device to provide electric power. Ultra-compact (it’s smaller than a cigarette pack) and with a battery life of up to 10 hours, this is a must-have item that would be just as useful for a snowboard as for a motor vehicle. I must admit here that, much too often, an electric wire connected to my helmet was torn off when I fell from my snowmobile while climbing a mountain.
The best way to sum up the tests… I never experience fog/frost on my goggle lenses that would hamper my vision. Mission accomplished !
There is only one negative point to mention; when the weather is very sunny, the dazzling light becomes very disturbing because the goggles have no tinted lenses. But I am convinced Kimpex will address this “issue” and provide a tinted version of their electric goggles.
