ATV track systems are no longer a novelty. Already regarded as an innovative company in this area, Kimpex and its engineers have achieved a real tour de force for the upcoming winter season with their newest track system: the Commander RS4.
The Kimpex development team offers a specifically designed solution for winter trail enthusiasts and thrill seekers. Featuring a unique and innovative design, the Commander RS4 will revolutionize the market by providing speeds comparable to those of tires while increasing control, maneuverability and traction on the trail. This new track system gives the rider an overall sense of security whatever the season: fall, winter or spring.
What sets the Commander RS4 apart from other similar systems?
The best way to explain this evolution is based on 4 strengths: Control, Speed, Comfort, and Traction.
Control: A new combination of the wheel positioning system on the ground and a curved front track significantly increases maneuverability.
Speed: By reducing the resistance via an oversized external sprocket and an optimized track tension, the Commander RS4 offers a speed equivalent to 85% that of tires, which is well beyond the speed of any similar system with only 60-65%.
Comfort: An innovative tandem with a guide rail was designed to act like a suspension unit. With this component, the Commander RS4 is by far ahead of all other systems in terms of comfort.
Traction: A specifically-designed studded track (8-in wide by 96-in long) provides excellent traction in both snow and ice (usually present on the trails).
In addition to many other improvements, one innovation consists of smaller and simplified mounting plates.
Who will benefit from this new track system?
Specifically designed for trails, the Commander RS4 tracks target ATV enthusiasts who love riding in the snow. It’s like driving with tires without being concerned with getting stuck in the snow.
In a discussion with Danny Gagnon, general manager of the FQCQ, he asserted “In the Quad world, no doubt there is room for these new tracks as they provide unparalleled control and increased safety.”
Testing the Commander RS4
Although no snow was present during the test, a kart circuit was used to test the track system. The following strengths became clear: impressive handling, no vibrations, and especially, far better control compared to a conventional track system. People witnessing the test noticed both the strong acceleration and precise manoeuvring, similar to that of tires. Even some of the riders conducting the tests actually had great fun doing controlled skids on asphalt.
My opinion
Since I have had the chance to test the Commander RS4, my dream is to be allowed to test the tracks during the winter. These tracks are so unbelievable on asphalt… Imagine what they can do on snow!
