PRESS RELEASE

New orientation for the 2017 edition
The 12 HOURS OF LA TUQUE brings changes to the QUAD division program.

La Tuque, January 25th 2017- the organization of the 12 HOURS OF LA TUQUE, today, announces a significant change to its 2017 edition. Indeed, for some years now, the leaders have been questioning the future of the Quad division. During the last edition, organizers mentioned that this was probably the last edition under this program.

Up until last December, members of the board and management evaluated various scenarios to find the best way to ensure the sustainability of the organization, while meeting the needs of the community, partners, volunteers, enthusiasts & pilots.

It was agreed that the 12hr-QUAD team endurance program would be removed to make room for three types of competitions, the ATV drag, the EnduroQuad and the Flat Track. Thus, collaborations have been carried out with the Fédération des motocyclistes de sentiers du Québec (FMSQ), l’Association de Drag de VTT Québec and the Regroupement de courses sur neige du Centre-du-Québec, to present these three new divisions. The final competition, the Flat Track, will be presented as a special event on a dirt track.

“For the past few months, we have been working on a new program to revive our sporting event. You ask and we listened! Race associations made proposals that lead us to present this new direction. As the racing industry is constantly evolving, we have to adjust to the market and new trends," says David Duchesneau, event director. "In light of the positive feedback we’ve received, we are confident that both enthusiasts and athletes will attend in large numbers this year." Added Duchesneau.

The new direction proposed concerns the QUAD competitions only. All other side-by-side and motocross competitions (Association des trialistes amateurs du Québec, Association de pitbike et FMSQ) are back in their entirety in the upcoming edition. Moreover, the new hot division, side-by-side competitions, are experiencing an increasing interest among enthusiasts. A new night round will be added to the programming, as well. As this event attracts race teams from across America, the La Tuque competition has become the biggest event of its kind in Canada.

The 2017 edition, with these competitions, could attract more than 200 additional riders to La Tuque compared to last year where there were 780 athletes.

Furthermore, considering these changes, managers are working with professional firms to find a new name & image for the even. The official announcement will be made during the 2017 edition, which will take place May19th to 21st.
